1998 Fall Season National League Champions!
November 22nd was a beautiful Championship Day at Joe Kelly Field at Pierce College. The four best teams remained from the original twenty teams who played during the 10 game fall season.The second game of the day was the National Division Championship game between the West Valley Angels, managed by Jeff Russell and the Orioles,managed by Chris Knezevich. The Angels got on the scoreboard first with three runs in the top half of the third inning. Jay Wasserman doubled in a run and DH-Jeff Russel drove in the other two runs with a clutch base hit. The Orioles big inning was the bottom of the fourth. The Orioles only needed a single and then doubles by Felipe Olmos and Mike Schoeman to score 6 runs making the score 7-3 Orioles after four full innings. The Angels battled back with 3 more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to a triple by John Ashley and a double by Aaron Story. Score was now 7-6 Orioles after 51/2 innings. The Oriole’s offense gave their pitcher, Julian Salas a run in the sixth and 2 more in the seventh and he finished strong with two strike outs to end the game. Final Score: Orioles 10 Angels 7
