1999 American League Champions!

Championship Sunday started off with a well played and very competitive game. The San Fernando Tigers, coming off an impressive season with a 15-4-1 record, faced off with a veteran team, the L.A. Cardinals. The first three batters for the Tigers scored three of their five runs in the first inning. Cardinal's pitcher, Jeff Ahern, then settled in and pitched a good game allowing just five runs. On the flip side, Tigers pitcher, Josh Goldberg, pitched a complete game allowing only two runs on seven hits. Several Tiger batters had multiple hits in the game: Danny Scott, Greg Venger, Jarrett Gold, Will Morrow and Brian Bromber. For Tiger's manager, Santiago de La Cerra, this victory is all too sweet. After coming up short in the 1997 Championship Game and then missing the Championships by only one run in 1998, he showed in 1999 that hard work and perseverance does pay off. Congratulations!
